Bobby Bowden Loses 12 wins for Violations

Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden loses to proposed 12 wins for academic violations by players on the Seminole football team leaving him with a still astounding 377. After a forced retirement Bowden was already 2nd all time in Division I wins but this is just another setback after his final squad went 7-6 for the 2009 season. Long known coach-in-waiting Bobby Fisher has the helms now with fans and boosters hoping for a resurgence to the glory days they once had just a decade ago.

Lattimore Chooses Auburn

Marcus Lattimore of Duncan High School from South Carolina  chose the Auburn Tigers to play division I football. Auburn has been a high interest for Lattimore for quite some time but he finally chose the school.

Sources tell me he was excited about teaming up with Michael Dyer of Little Rock Christian, who is also a 5-star running back, to run the frenzied offensive scheme “The Wildcat” developed by Auburn’s offense coodinator Gus Malzahn in 2006 when he held the same position at Arkansas with future 1st round draft picks Darren McFadden (Doak Walker 2006-2007, Oakland Raiders) and Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys).

Auburn’s well-to-do offensive guru Gus Malzahn brought Auburn from the horrid 302 ypg in 2008 to 431 ypg in 2009.

Also brought in this years Top 10 Recruiting class is 5-star QB Cameron Newton. For those of you who follow College Recruiting, then you must remember Newton as a 5-star QB for Florida in the 07′ class. Tim Tebow ended up becoming the greatest leader in College Football history and it left Newtown on the bench and soon as a transfer to Blinn Community College in Brenham, Texas.

For the rest of the SEC, it only gets better!

FSU Lineman Fail

ACC

ACC

Epic fail from Florida State’s offensive line. ESPECIALLY the right tackle. That guy is either def or experienced temporary paralysis on this video clip…

BBj Top 20 [week 1]

Contrary to the normal Top 25, I made a list of the top 20 because no team outside of it has a realistic chance to win the national title.

1. Florida

The obvious choice. All defensive starters return as well as Urban Meyer and the greatest quarterback in CFB history in Tim Tebow.

2. Alabama

Coming off an embarassing 2 game losing streak after having the Title game seemingly locked up from an undefeated regular season, the Tide are looking to bounce back with star wide receiver Julio Jones and CB Javiar Arenas returning for his senior campaign.

3. Ohio State

Two words — Terrell Pryor. Sure Jim Tressell sucks in title games, but he’s never had a talent like TP at quaterback.

4. Texas
Ok lets see….Heisman contender @ quaterback with McCoy? Check!   Jordan Shipley returning?  1 point lose making the difference in playing for the National Title?  Check!  Greatest recruiting pipeline in the country? Check. Yeah, this ranking makes sense.

5. Oklahoma

After an embarassing exhibition of team chemistry in the title game versus Florida, Sam Bradford is poised to show that last season was no fluke. Having a dangerous backfield doesn’t hurt em’ either. Their only downfall is Big Game Bob (although, I contend that nickname).

6. USC
A 1 lose season with a new quarterback is great. They have another new quarterback in Aaron Corp who looks to carry the recent Tradition of great USC quarterbacks (minus Booty).

7. Utah

2 undefeated seasons in the BCS era and a win over a highly ranked Alabama catapults them in the Preseason top 10. Another undefeated season should give them serious consideration of a title game appearance. Downside? Brian Johnson has graduated.

8. Boise State

The Broncos return 14 starters—including six each on offense and defense—from a team that went 12-1 last year. The returning group includes standout quarterback Kellen Moore.

9. Notre Dame

They’ve got a veteran quarterback with his back against the wall after Hollywood like attention during his recruiting days. The offensive line has 2 years of experience and has chemistry. Don’t be surprised if they finish with 10 wins.

10. LSU

This team could easily be higher just from reload talent alone. But their quarterback situation is still unsettled between Jordan Jefferson and incoming freshman Russell Shepard out of Houston, TX. The defense remains nasty and nobody wants to play a night game in LSU…..unless its Arkansas ;)

11. Wake Forest

Jim Grobe returns a veteran team with Senior QB Riley Skinner coming off of a perfect performance in the Eagle Bank bowl versus Navy.

12. North Carolina

This is an extremely surprising pick for a team that didn’t finish in the top 25 after last season, but you have to believe Butch Davis is poised to put these great recruits on route to national prominence.

13. Virginia Tech

In 2004, Miami added itself to the ACC Conference formerly known as FSC (Florida St. Conference). Virginia Tech has been the dominate team so far and the offense only got better. 10 wins still in sight!

14. Ole Miss

Some may argue that Ole Miss garners top 10. Head coach Houston Nutt is made history in defeating eventual national champions in back to back seasons (LSU, Florida). Unfortunately, his follow-ups are pedestrian to the previous years (2000, 2004-05,  2007)

15. Penn State

The greatest coach of all time returns a team with experience and a stellar QB in Darryl Clark. They graduated a few seniors last season but they’re recruiting has picked up. The test? This season!

16. Oklahoma State

Kendall Hunter, Dez Bryant, and Zac Robinson. The low ranking?  Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas. 3 games that they may very well lose.  Let’s not count out Mike Leach and his Texas Tech red raiders!

17. Miami

I have a personal interest in Miami. I hate that Larry Coker was fired, but Miami is reloaded with discipline. With a win on Florida State in the first game, they’ll get their swagger back.

18. Oregon

With the retirement of

19. Florida State

They’ll lose to Miami, but a 10 win season isn’t out of sight because of it. The defensive unit & special teams will help redeem 10-14 wins the NCAA stripped Bowden of recently.

20. Nebraska

Honorable Mentions

Illinois, Arkansas, Georgia, East Carolina, Maryland, Baylor, TCU, South Florida, Auburn, and Cal
